Fairview Farmers Market

Fresh vegetables and homegrown eggs may be some of the tasty fare offered when the Fairview Farmer’s Market sets up shop in mid May. Rain or shine, the farmer’s market runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday mornings starting May 14 through Sept. 10 at the gravel parking lot formerly Poppy’s — 318 Main Street — next to the U.S. Post Office.

“What we are trying to do is create a farmer’s market much like the one in Fairmont,” said Jim Faber, market organizer. “We hope we can attract many vendors who will offer such things as vegetables, arts and crafts, baked goods and more. We think this will foster a sense of community.”

For registration information about how to set up a table, please contact Faber at 304-775-3366.

Faber said the idea for a farmer’s market was inspired by the Marion County Master Gardener’s Group who hope to extend community service and involvement throughout the county.

“This farmer’s market will potentially provide a venue to create a way for people to exchange goods and services,” Faber said. “Put simply, you buy my vegetables and I will buy your crafts. Nothing could be more neighborly than that.”

Faber said he is hopeful that word of mouth will spread the news to farmers among others about joining this farmer’s market. “That’s how these things get started,” he said. “It may start off small this month, but by the time August rolls around there may be many vendors at the market. We offer a great location and access to many Marion County community citizens who want the best produce or more.”
