Curtisville Lake - 695 acres of lush scenery. Hiking and picnicking areas surround the 30 acre lake. Travel Rt. 250 N to Mannington. Turn left onto Market St., go about 6 miles and cross a railroad track; travel one mile, then turn left onto a bridge; travel two miles to the lake.
Hutchinson Park/Rail Trail Access – The four-acre park offers a playground, baseball field, and play field area adjacent to the rail trail. Travel Rt. 19 S from Fairmont – one mile south of Worthington. Cross over old green bridge to park.
Marion County BMX Park – Home of the “Poor Farm BMX” bicycle track, a nationally sanctioned facility with the National Bicycle League. Located just off Hoult Road. From I-79 take Exit 139, turn towards Pricketts Fort, and pass the Exxon. At stop sign turn left (south) on Rt. 73. Go past K & T Truck Stop (BP Station) and take first right. Go ¼ mile on Hoult Road, then turn right.
Mary Lou Retton Youth Park / Rail Trail Access - Named after the 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist from Marion County. It has 25 rolling acres, four baseball fields, pavilion, playground, picnic area, tennis courts, basketball courts, and restrooms. Also located here is the WV Miner's Memorial. Take exit 132 off of I-79, then Rt. 250 N for approximately one mile; turn left onto Mary Lou Retton Drive and follow signs.
Mon River Trail – meanders along the Monongahela River from the WV/PA state line through Monongalia County into Marion County at Pricketts Fort State Park. The Mon River Trails Conservancy (www.montrails.org) maintains this trail which is 29 miles in length from Pricketts Fort to the PA state line.
Rail Trails - MCPARC offers two exceptional rail trails with many dramatic features. West Fork River (Ralph S. LaRue) Trail is 16 miles long with more than 200 acres of river front property. Enjoy biking, walking, horseback riding, fishing, and river access with put-in at trailheads. Several re-decked railroad bridges offer great views with one bridge over 500' in length. MCTRAIL offers nearly 3 miles and 36 acres of converted railway property for walkers, joggers and bikers. Begins at Pricketts Fort State Park to Mt. State Metals on Morgantown Avenue in Fairmont. The trail offers a 1200', lighted tunnel to stir the interest of users.
Seth Burton Memorial Disc Golf Course – Located at Morris Park, this course includes two 18-hole premier disc golf courses. I-79; exit 135 (Pleasant Valley Rd.). Turn towards Pleasant Valley, 0.3 mile to a right into Morris Park (large blind curve). Park in entrance cul-de-sac or around park to the 2nd pavilion. First tree next to pavilion. www.wvdiscgolf.org
Wave Pool / Water Slide at East Marion Complex - This 70 acre water park offers tennis, jogging trails, pavilions, playgrounds, bocce courts, horseshoe courts, picnicking, mini golf, sand volleyball, softball field, the famous Wave Pool and water slide. West Fork River / Ralph S. LaRue Rail Trail - This 16 mile, packed limestone trail meanders along the placid West Fork River between Fairmont and Shinnston. This popular trail passes by residential and commercial areas, as well as farmland. Parking can be found in Shinnston (southern terminus), Enterprise (mile 3), Worthington (mile 5.25), Monongah (mile 10) and Fairmont (northern terminus).Restrooms and picnic areas are available in season at Worthington Park and Mary Lou Retton Youth Park (mile 15).
Worthington Park / Rail Trail Access - A beautiful 10 acre waterfront park offering softball, picnicking, playground, fishing, basketball, pavilion, restroom and horseshoe courts. Travel Rt. 19 S from Fairmont. Go through towns of Monongah and Worthington. When you see the Fire Department on your right, turn left beside the large building on your left; then turn left at the bridge.
