10:00 a.m. Begin your “history lesson” with a tour of Historic Downtown Fairmont.  Many of our restored buildings are on the National Register of Historic places, including our beautiful Court House.

11:00 a.m. Step back in time with a tour of our Marion County Historical Society Museum, located right next door to the Court House.  In fact, this restored home served as the Sheriff’s residence for many years and has a “secret passageway” into the jailhouse.

11:30 a.m.  Lunch at one of our unique restaurants.

1:00 p.m.  Head for your next stop – Pricketts Fort State Park to enjoy real living history  Pricketts Fort was originally built in 1774 as a refuge fort on the frontier of Virginia. It was reconstructed in 1976 and today you can enjoy demonstrations of the colonial way of life, including a blacksmith, gunsmith, weaver and much more.  You can even arrange for your group to make a heritage craft to have something to take home to remember your visit!  The Fort’s gift shop offers the shopper unique items, some of which are made right at the Fort.

2:30 p.m.  On the bus again to head to Mannington, but on the way we will stop to take a quick look at the Barrackville Covered Bridge, originally built in 1853. In Mannnigton, we will visit two museums, one of which is a round barn.  These two museums feature all  types of things, including the original bed, chair and dresser of Frances H. Pierpont, first Governor of the restored Government of Virginia after the Civil War.

4:30 p.m. Time to head back to your comfy motel to freshen up for a relaxing dinner at one of our group friendly restaurants.

Evening Enjoy some evening entertainment such as a play or musical at Fairmont State University, or a country music show, dinner theatre, or other options depending on the season of your visit.
