CANCELLED Historic Arts Workshops: Turkey Hunting

Yelp, yelp, cluck, cluck, purr . . . Improve your chances of bagging that spring gobbler by learning the language of one of WV’s most sought after fowl, the turkey!

Jack Bell, who has hunted turkeys for over 36 years, is instructing a seminar that will teach you everything you need to know about turkey hunting.  Bell has been a guide since 1991 in NC, WV, PA and Texas.  Now he’s bringing his hard earned experience and knowledge right here to Marion County.

The seminar will cover:

  • A brief history of turkey hunting in the U.S.
  • The Wild Turkey: physiology, habitat, foods etc.
  • Vocabulary of the turkey: yelps, cuts, cluck and purr, lost call, fighting purrs, gobbling calls, air and friction. Basically all the calling fundamentals you need to call in that bird!!!
  • Hunting techniques
  • Weapons for hunting turkeys
  • Use of decoys
  • Blinds
  • Safety
