“Coalesence,” ceramic sculptural forms exhibition at FSU

CERAMIC SCULPTURAL EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY IN BROOKS GALLERY

“Coalesence,” an exhibition of ceramic sculptural forms by Frederick Bartolovic and Michelle Strader, will be on display at Fairmont State University in January and February.

The exhibit will be open from Tuesday, Jan. 21, through Friday, Feb. 28, in the James David Brooks Gallery, located on the fourth floor of Wallman Hall. Gallery hours are Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The Department of Art will host a public reception from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. Frederick Bartolovic is an artist and professor at Marshall University in Huntington. He received his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design after working in the ceramic tile industry for five years prior to that and receiving his BFA in ceramics from the University of Arizona. He is currently co-authoring a new edition of the book “Electric Kiln Ceramics” with Richard Zakin.

Michelle Strader received her BFA from the College of Saint Rose in New York and her Masters of Art in Teaching from the State University of New York in Oswego, N.Y. She currently lives in Kentucky and teaches art in Huntington. She recently exhibited her work at Ohio University Southern, the Portsmouth Ohio Museum of Art and the Fowler Kellogg Gallery at the Chautauqua Institution in New York. She has worked for the past two years being integrally involved with the community outreach art program at the Huntington Museum of Art.
