Fuzzy Knight Festival @ Palatine Park

August 17, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Fairmont honors native, John Forrest “Fuzzy” Knight during the 5th annual Fuzzy Knight Festival.

Fuzzy was a western comic sidekick in Class-B western films.

Festivities with a performance by the Twilight Wranglers, a local group that specializes in cowboy and western music, followed by Keith Long and his Possum Holler String band which promises to “waltz you through the blue grass.”

Concluding at dusk will be a showing of the movie The Shepherd of the Hills. This classic film, produced in 1941 in brilliant Technicolor,  has its setting in the Ozark mountains of southern Missouri and is the tale of a mountain family ripped asunder by a family curse. It has an all-star cast which includes John Wayne, Betty Field, Harry Carey, Beulah Bondi, Marjorie Main, and Ward Bond. During the movie, Fuzzy Knight gives a nostalgic rendering of the beautiful ballad Happy Hunting Ground.

So dig out your ten-gallon hat, shine up those cowboy boots, strap on your spurs, uncoil that lasso, pack up a bag of beef jerky and come out for what should be an evening of delightful and wholesome entertainment.
