Mountaineer State History Expo

Downtown Fairmont, WV
On Saturday, March 29, 2014, in these magnificent marbled halls, the Mountaineer State History Expo will take place from 10am – 200pm at the courthouse in downtown Fairmont.
There is no charge to enter the Expo.
The Expo includes family activities with exhibits, music, presentations, and performances. Food is available for purchase. Local historical societies, museums and organizations meet to share with the public, a wide variety of WV history.
The Marion County Courthouse (1897-1900) is a significant example of Beaux Arts Classicism, and is the finest representation of the style found among all courthouses in the state.
Major elements of the courthouse are seen in the coupled columns on the dome, monumental flights of steps, arched pediment and lintel openings and overall elaborate symmetry. Pediments depict relief sculptures of local historical, social and industrial conditions.
