Run to Read Half Marathon

Packet Pickup / Late Registration: Will be held Sunday (1/5/14) inside the old visitor’s center at Prickett’s Fort. The old visitor’s center is located in the lower parking lot.
Race Day Registration: Open at 12:30pm at the Fort on race day

Refreshments will be at the Fort’s old visitor’s center following the race.

One porta potty near the 7 & 11 mile marks.
Course Description: Race Map – Double out & back course. 1% grade. Starting on the paved Mcparc Trail running through the Meredith tunnel and back to Prickett’s Fort. The first section is blacktop & is about 4.2 miles in length. The second section will be run on the Mon River Trail which is crushed limestone & the race will finish on ths trail. USATF sanctioned.

USATF certified course (certification code WV09010MS)
Walkers: Walkers are welcome.
3-1/2 hour time limit (food still available right up to 6pm) Awards to first 3 female finishers & first 3 male finishers Directions To Start/Finish: 3 miles from I-79, exit 139. Follow the signs to Prickett’s Fort State Park.

Lodging:
1. The Clarion Inn (located right off I-79, exit 137) is offering a “Run2Read group” rate effective Saturday 1/4/14 and/or Sunday 1/5/14. The rate is $56 + tax. This applies for 1 to 4 occupants per room. Call 1-304-366-5500, ask for the business office and request the special rate for the half marathon.

2. Morgantown Euro-Suites Hotel (501 Chestnut Ridge Road, Morgantown, WV) is offering a 20% discount on 1/4/14 and/or 1/5/14. Reserve online or call 304-598-1000 and refer to the code RTRM to book at the special rate.

Sponsors: All proceeds will benefit Literacy Volunteers of Marion County, a United Way agency. LVMC provides free tutoring to adults & children in basic reading, math, ESL (English as a second language), GED preparation & related subjects. LVMC is affiliated with Literacy West Virginia.

Runners will be ranked using an age graded system. The top 15 females and top 15 males who compete in at least five races will receive commemora­tive tech shirts. Another 20 run­ners, 10 female and 10 male, will receive shirts based on participation totals. The overall winners, female and male, will receive free entry to all series events in 2015 and will also receive a month-long pool pass.
