Event Series Event Series: “The Marvelous Wonderettes”

“The Marvelous Wonderettes”

June 14, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$8 – $12
poster promoting musical at Fairmont State University

Stroll back in time as the Fairmont State University Town & Gown Theatre presents “The Marvelous Wonderettes”.

Created by Roger Bean, this smash off-Broadway hit takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their hair-dos! As we learn about their lives and loves, the girls serenade us with classic ‘50s hits including “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “It’s my Party,” and “Mr. Sandman.”

Cindy Lou, played by Madeline Giambi, knows she is the prettiest girl at Springfield High. Her best friend is class clown Betty Jean, played by Miranda Folmsbee, who confronts her date for the “Lipstick on Your Collar.” Overachieving Missy, played by Dani DeVito, is the head of the prom decoration committee and best friends with happy-go-lucky, gum-chewing Suzy, played by Bailey Kershner. Missy’s “Secret Love” is her music teacher. Tension mounts when all four girls are nominated for prom queen.

Years later, the Wonderettes reunite and take the stage to perform at their ten-year reunion. We learn about the highs and lows the girls have experienced in the past decade and are charmed to find that no matter what life throws their way, they will conquer it together. Featuring over 30 classic ’50s and ’60s hits, “The Marvelous Wonderettes”, will keep you smiling in this must-take musical trip down memory lane!

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $8 for children under 12. Tickets go on sale May 28 and can be purchased by calling 304-367-4240.
