We love watching movies and TV series for many reasons. One reason is to closely follow the development of interesting characters who have become our favorites. Often, we don’t even realize that many of these beloved characters are also mothers!

Since Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, let’s focus on our favorite made-up moms. They are strong, intelligent, sassy, spunky characters, and while they are the product of someone’s imagination, they are much like real moms. They share the same challenges, and they also handle these challenges with the same faith, courage, and humor. That’s why we love them!

So whether you grew up longing to be the seventh Brady (The Brady Bunch), rolling your eyes at the nurturing Kitty Forman (That 70’s Show), stomping off from Claire, the “psycho control freak” (Modern Family), or dealing with the quirky Lois Griffin (Family Guy), mom’s hold a special place in our hearts.

We want to honor all special women who have played a significant part in our lives.

Now through May 9th, name your favorite fictional mom AND share a post on your social media channels about this contest for a chance to win an original portrait from Ben Kolb of Nativibes. Ben takes his Appalachian creativity to the next level by gathering coal from around the state and processing it into paints.

A winner will be drawn randomly on May 9th at 5:00 pm and notified via social media. Ben will paint a portrait of your choosing in the coming weeks.
