September 14: Library Card Sign-Up Month

Library Card Sign-up Month is a celebration held at the beginning of the new school year during which librarians across the country remind parents and caregivers that a library card is the most important school supply of all.

This year, Troy Polamalu, safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers, joins us as Honorary Chair of Library Card Sign-up Month.

Your library card… do you have one? If you don’t, now is a great time to visit your local library and sign up for the smartest card you’ll ever have! A library card opens up a whole new world of possibilities… learn a new craft, learn to play the guitar, paint, sew, start a new exercise program, try a new dish, learn about our government, or try a new sport.

Check out video games, audiobooks, Playaways, books, magazines, DVDs and CDs. Download ebooks, audiobooks, movies, and music; or browse one of MCPLS’ databases, 24/7 from the comfort of your own home.

There are hundreds of ways to use your library and the card makes it all possible… and it’s FREE!

Sign up for a library card at Marion County Public Library during the month of September, and you’ll be entered to win a $25 Applebee’s gift card. Kids that receiving their library card can pick from our lollipop tree for a chance at our prize basket! Sign up for a library card at Mannington Public Library during the week of September 17-22 for a chance to win a $25 gas card!

You library card… the smartest card you’ll ever own!

Because they use the same system, Fairmont State University students, with a valid I.D. can access all these same services at the three county libraries.  Items checked out can be left at the FSU Library.
