Main Street Fairmont is hosting an event with everything you love! Think about it: extensive sessions, business opportunities, action plans, running!

Small Business Boot Camp 2014 aims to help anyone and everyone in running or planning their own business. Through local professionals, educators, and start-up grants, Main Street will give you tools and resources to develop our tiny town.

Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you currently own a business, want to own a business or think that maybe someday you might want to own a business.

Help Main Street help you help Main Street help you! So, who’s on first? The more businesses— and the better the businesses— the better our economy! So you see, going to this boot camp helps Main Street help you to help Main Street to ultimately help you! (Got that?)

Think about what you want— a coffee shop, a pub, a bookstore, a gym. Name it, you can do it!

How can you do it? Find out every Tuesday starting Feb. 3, and through March 25, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (at 320 Adams Street). Topics include writing a business plan, communication resources, licenses and permits, as well as financing and cash flow. For that $35 materials fee, you get 7 extensive class sessions, business knowledge, long-term mentors, valuable networking  and a chance to win $5,000 in startup money (and the chance to become a business tycoon).To register go to Mainstreetfairmont.org.

Following the Small Business Boot Camp will be a Small Business (free) Resource Summit. Opening at 9 a.m. March 25, there will be two sessions:

 

  • 9:30 a.m.- Be Essential: Learn how to be cutting edge and valuable in your community!

  • 10:30 a.m.- Grow Baby Grow! Strategies from Outside the Box: Explore new ways to make a lasting impression without spending a lot on marketing.

After that, there will be an Entrepreneur’s Cafe at 12 p.m. The Entrepreneur’s Cafe will feature the awarding of the grand prize startup money and a People’s Choice award, both in support of business ideas for downtown Fairmont.
