Sometimes creativity and even fun need to be scheduled to ensure they happen. So this summer when you are looking for both to keep the family from going stir crazy (or worse copping an attitude), be sure to visit these 4 local studios. They offer both entertaining & skill-building art classes – mixed with a whole lot of fun.

Get behind the wheel

What kid doesn’t like to be elbow deep in mud? For a limited time, West Fork Pottery is offering a kids hand building session. Choose from their wide array of projects (everything from wheel throwing to pottery classes) and pay half-price with the purchase of a full-priced session.

West Fork Pottery is located in Joe ‘n Throw – downtown Fairmont’s hippest coffee shop & café. Which is pretty convenient since “The Joe” is a full service coffee bar serving lunches and evening snacks – and beer!

Go Native

Located in Mannington’s historic train depot, Nativibes will definitely have your feeling the art vibes the summer.

June is especially busy at Nativibes. The Summer Vibes fashion lab explores fashion, art and entertainment with the Seeking Stars Art creative team. Kinder Vibes meets every Monday and is a 2-month course of 10 (1-hour) sessions where students are entertained with theme-inspired arts and crafts projects. Youth Vibe classes every Tuesday & Wednesday and is a 3-month course of 12 (2-hour) sessions.

Get creative in the mountains

Mountain Creative is a paint your own pottery shop with a private party room for special events – or just because. They offer wheel throwing lessons, clay hand building classes and mosaics. The studio is an art environment that caters to all artistic abilities plus they also sell local art.

Coming up in June, kids can create a clay Fairy House and begin growing their “village”. And new for Mountain Creative, is a sign painting class. Not just any sign – but a custom designed 5 foot wooden sign.

Also in the works are some themed kid’s party nights where kids can enjoy special discounts, snacks and of course, creativity.

Summer Camp at Our Studio WV

Studio living

Our Studio WV is not your typical art studio. Sandy goes beyond drawing and painting classes (although those are offered, too).

There are several week-long day camps schedules at the studio in June. Ever thought about making a Rube Goldberg machine? Or what about honing your skills on a mig welder?

Be sure to follow these studios on Facebook to get their latest class schedules.

Whether you are young or young at heart, there are plenty of opportunities to spark your creativity this summer.
