❤️ Valentine’s Day is a day rich with history, love, and chocolate. And by sheer coincidence, so is Marion County

Romance your way through Marion County this Valentine’s Day in any manner you choose. I’ve outlined some of the best kinds of Valentine’s date options. Take your pick!

Date night options:

fresh floral arrangement of red and pink flowers

Classic: The classic date night of dinner and a movie is perfect for those couples who might not be that serious just yet. If you’re doing something clearly casual, go for Tygart Valley Cinemas and Mi Pueblo. For something a little sweeter, choose Colasessano’s for the pizza and gelato. Don’t skimp on tradition! Perennial Floral exists for those who may struggle in the wonderful design of floral arrangements.

Romantic: First things first. White’s Fine Jewelry is a must if you’re planning a romantic Valentine’s date. What might be the most romantic food option in town is, of course, Italian: Muriale’s. Tiramisu certainly sounds like love to me.

Original: For a nice and casual Valentine’s date, dinner could be a burger and fries, but a little fancier. Beer Burger Bowery has the Billion Dollar Burger, Sunshine Salad and – pull out all the stops with – battered asparagus. To make it even cuter, don’t buy chocolate for your Valentine. Buy cupcakes! Get an assortment, mix and match frostings and enjoy your adorable evening – brought to you in part by Cakes with a Personal Touch.

Creative: A sweet and artsy Valentine’s date at Mountain Creative followed by a dinner of salmon cakes and macaroni and cheese at the cutest restaurant: Wildflour

Different: For good tunes with a vintage vibe anytime, Assumption Records has music for a romantic night in on Valentine’s. Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin plus contemporary works, too. Then, consider Backwoods at the Belmont –  high-end and romantic foods with an impeccable wine list.

Quirky: Get some oddly named dinner and desserts at Pufferbelly’s Ice Cream Station (romantic ribbon fries, jalapeno poppers, whistle-stop sundaes) before or after going to Comic Paradise Plus. They’ve got quite the selection of subculture gifts to peruse with your subculture love!

Healthy: Main Street Yoga is the place to go for a thoughtful date with your love. Take advantage of the weekly vinyasa class that falls on Valentine’s Day, but don’t forget about the chocolates! But how to do it healthily? Health Naturally has the organic deliciousness to feed your body and your sweet tooth.

Hipster: A hipster date has to seamlessly incorporate craft beer and coffee with elevated Appalachian cuisine. Start out at Joe n Throw for a lovely latte, brownie to share and a selection of hipster Valentine gifts. Up the street is The Rambling Root with a fancy hipster date plan of beer cheese, bacon fries, and Rambling Root beers.

Fun: Skate arm-in-arm with the one you love at Skate-A-Way. Then, stay in the past with a trip to DJ’s 50’s & 60’s Diner, a Valentine dream of milkshake-sharing and french fry dipping.

Take some time prior to Feb. 14 to prep for your date:

Spa Oasis has the cleansing and beautifying facials you need – I’m talking to you, men! Plus, the float specials include chocolates!

Tuscan Sun Spa is a mani-pedi godsend for less than fortunate looking appendages. It’s not just the spa you’ll love. Shop for makeup and clothes – essential to a great Valentine’s Day.

Savvy Consignment is where to go for all your sartorial and accessorizing needs. Get the whole outfit here, plus heels – all with designer brand names.

Gifts:

A good Valentine’s date isn’t complete without a bottle of wine. Mountain Dragon Mazery’s local honey wine can’t be topped!

Get something with a past and a purpose at Arts & Antiques Marketplace or Sweet Memories Antique Mall.

Country chic gifts go great with chocolate, both of which can be found at Craft Connection (think candles, cards, hearts, and cuteness) and Rider’s Cards & Gifts (think chocolate and then keep thinking about chocolate) respectively.

As you can tell, Marion County has quite the smorgasbord of date night options for all you lovebirds. Enjoy your date whether classic, quirky or anything in between.❤️
