Independence Day Celebrations

Celebrate the Fourth of July in Marion County! On July 4, enjoy patriotic festivities in Fairview. Events include a 5k fun run, parade, live music, kid-friendly games and more. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. Then, on July 6, head to Palatine Park for an evening of live music featuring Wanted: The Bon Jovi Band. The concert starts at 7 p.m. with fireworks to follow.

Palatine Park Free Summer Concert Series

Your summer soundtrack is on us! Groove under the stars with free live music every weekend at Palatine Park. The summer lineup includes The Johnnie Johnson Festival (July 13), Shakespeare in the Park (July 20), Yellow Dubmarine (July 27), The Warped Tour Band (August 3), Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band (August 10), Half Step (August 17) and Absolute Queen (August 24).

Pricketts Fort Summer Events

Don’t miss all of Pricketts Fort’s summer events! Bring the kids to a Colonial Kids Day (July 10, July 24 and August 7), where they can experience life in the 18th century. Enjoy a day of traditional music at the fort on September 7. Or try your hand at soap-making during a class led by a skilled interpreter. Then, join Joey Herron on a Bird Walk through the park to see some spectacular birds during the fall migration on September 28. While you are at Pricketts Fort, check out the concession stand that is now open for the season.

New Coal Mine Ride At Coal Country Miniature Golf

After four years of work, the Northern Appalachian Coal Mining Heritage Association has unveiled its exciting new Coal Mine Ride at Coal Country Miniature Golf. This immersive simulator lets you journey underground in a minecart, experiencing the sights and sounds of a real coal mine. The video incorporates footage filmed in three local mines, offering a unique glimpse into West Virginia's coal mining history. Coal Country Miniature Golf offers a variety of family-friendly fun beyond the Coal Mine Ride. Take a swing at the 18-hole miniature golf course, challenge yourself on the 9-hole disc golf course or explore the onsite coal mining museum.

Live Music At Pricketts Fort

Step back in time with a modern twist! Experience traditional music with high energy at the Pricketts Fort Amphitheater! The upcoming performances include the Top Shelf Band (July 12), The Soda Pop Gypsies Band (July 19), Grkmania (July 26) and Band of Brothers (August 2). 

Hometown Markets

Shop from local artisans and vendors at the Main Street Fairmont Hometown Market! Now through September, browse local crafts, produce and more. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The upcoming market dates include special events: July 13 (Fourth Annual Friendly City Car Show), August 17 (Annual Tomato Festival) and September 21 (End of Summer Bash).

Weekly Live Music

Enjoy live music every Saturday evening at Sagebrush Round-Up — West Virginia’s Country Music Hall of Fame. Arrive early to savor a delicious home-cooked dinner, and don't forget to capture a memorable selfie in front of the iconic large acoustic guitar.

Hamilton Round Barn

Every month, catch live music at the Hamilton Round Barn hosted by the West Augusta Historical Society. Upcoming performances include Sapp’s Hollow (July 27), Gospel Sing (August 17) and Rick Tichner and Jessica Anderson (September 28).

Fairmont Chamber Music Society Concerts

The Fairmont Chamber Music Society is back for the 2024-2025 season. Attend the first performance featuring Maestri Vocale on September 29.
