As an idea that was born deep in the coal mines in the 1920s, pepperoni rolls have become one of the little-known treasures of West Virginia. Two entities claim to be the birthplace of this iconic snack. Now, we're calling a truce. Clarksburg Visitors Bureau and Marion C VB have partnered to bring you the West Virginia Pepperoni Roll Trail. Discover all the original places where Italian coal miners - and their ingenious wives - first dreamed up this new way to combine their old-world lunch of bread and pepperoni, creating a hearty, handheld lunch.
