Independence Day Weekend In Marion County

Celebrate the Fourth of July in Marion County! On July 2, head to Palatine Park for an evening of live music featuring The Almost Brothers, Our Famous Local Airman Brothers Tribute, Second Helping and The American Lynard Skynard Show. The concert starts at 6 p.m. with fireworks to follow. Then, on July 4, enjoy patriotic festivities in Fairview. Events include a 5k fun run, parade, live music, games and more. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m.

Pricketts Fort Events

Don’t miss all of Pricketts Fort’s summer events! Try your hand at spinning wool, weaving, blacksmithing or soap making in a class led by skilled interpreters. Tour the fort and smell food cooking over an open hearth at a Hearth Cooking Demo. Bring the kids to Colonial Kids Day, where they can experience life in the 18th century. Other upcoming events at Pricketts Fort include a Primitive Trade Fair, Traditional Music Day, Historical Arts Workshop and
Augusta County Militia.

Live Music At The Fort

Enjoy live music on Friday evenings at Pricketts Fort this summer! Upcoming concerts include Rachel Eddy & Em Hammond (July 8), Brass Rhythm and Sax Orchestra (July 22), GRKMANIA (July 29) and Band of Brothers (August 5). All performances begin at 7 p.m. and are free to the public.

Palatine Park Events

Palatine Park’s live music continues throughout the summer! Upcoming performances include the Johnnie Johnson Festival, Shakespeare in the Park, Taste of Italy: Best of the Italian Hour Radio Show, the Palatine Legends Series and more! Shop from local artisans and vendors at the Main Street Fairmont Hometown Market! Now through September, browse local crafts, produce and more. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The upcoming market dates are July 16, August 20 and September 17.

Paw Paw Fair

The Paw Paw Fair is almost here! From July 19-23, enjoy fun for the entire family with children’s activities, entertainment, music, carnival rides, commercial vendors, and a wide variety of food and attractions.

Run To Read 5K & 10K

Run through beautiful Fairmont with the Literacy Volunteers of Marion County’s Run to Read 5K and 10K 
on July 29. Then afterward, relax
with your family at the 12th Street Pool with swimming, food, and
fun — all included in the registration!  Registration is at 5:00 p.m. and the race starts at 6:00 p.m.

Mannington District Fair

Save the date for the Mannington District Fair on August 8-13. There will be live music throughout the week featuring American Idol contestant, Cody Clayton Eagle, Davisson Brothers Band, and Confederate Railroad. The fair’s events include a parade, pageants, carnival rides, races, contests and more.

If you love antique and vintage cars, we have a Sunday afternoon treat
for you! Check out the Cruise-In
Car Show at Valley Falls State Park

on August 14 from 12 p.m. to
4 p.m. This event is free and
open to the public.

Wild Turkey Trail Run

The Wild Turkey Trail Run is a free race at Valley Falls State Park on August 20. The course is a 10-mile figure eight loop with an aid station in the middle. Register now.

Waterfall Clinic

On August 20, join Rocky Mountain Kayak at Valley Falls State Park
for a Waterfall Clinic. Kayakers will
be instructed on how to prepare for the Class V whitewater experience 
at the park. The clinic will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Disc Golf Tournament

The 12th Annual Seth Burton
Memorial Disc Golf Tournament
returns to Morris Park on September 30 - October 2. The competition has divisions for Professional Open/Professional Open Women, Advanced, Masters, Intermediate, Recreational and Juniors.
