Free Live Music All Summer Long At Palatine Park!

Your summer weekends just got better with live music at Palatine Park! Celebrate Independence Day on July 1 with fireworks and performances from Byron “Six Six” Cooper, DJ Unique, Weird Science and Liquid A. The lineup for the rest of the summer includes The Johnnie Johnson Festival (July 8), Shakespeare in the Park (July 15), Satisfaction and Bullet the Blue Sky (July 22), The 2023 Sounds Good Festival (July 29), The Georgia Thunderbolts and Stephanie Quayle (August 5), Anna Moss and the Nightshades and Megan Jean’s Secret Family (August 12), Start Making Sense and Carpool (August 19), SCHISM (August 26), and The Bones of J.R. Jones and Benjamin Dakota Rogers (September 2).

Marion County's New Geocache Trail — F.L.O.A.T.

Introducing F.L.O.A.T. – Fairmont's Land or Aquatic Trail! F.L.O.A.T. offers outdoor enthusiasts a unique adventure combining nature and exploration. F.L.O.A.T. presents a captivating challenge with approximately 30 hidden caches awaiting discovery. Half of these caches can be found along the tranquil waters of the Mon River, stretching from Palatine Park to Prickett's Fort. The other half lies nestled within the MC Trail, offering hikers an equally rewarding experience. Complete either the kayak trail or the hiking trail to earn a coin, which will be in a locked box at Prickett’s Fort for people to unlock. Music At Prickett's Fort

Get ready for an impressive musical journey of old-timey, traditional music with modern energy at Prickett’s Fort! The upcoming performances include Autumn Equinox (July 7), Band of Brothers (July 14), Jacob’s Ferry Stragglers (July 21), Brass, Rhythm and Sax Orchestra (July 28) and The Soda Pop Gypsies Band (August 4).

Prickett's Fort Events

Attend some fun events this summer at Prickett's Fort! Try your hand at spinning wool, weaving, blacksmithing, soap making or butter churning in a class led by skilled interpreters. Tour the fort and smell food cooking over an open hearth at a Hearth Cooking Demo. Bring the kids to Colonial Kids Day, where they can experience life in the 18th century. End your summer with a day of traditional music at the fort. While you are there, make sure to check out the concession stand that is now open for the season.

Upcoming Market Days

Shop from local artisans and vendors at the Main Street Fairmont Hometown Market! Now through September, browse local crafts, produce and more. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The upcoming market dates include special events: July 15 (Third Annual Car Show), August 19 (Tomato Festival), and September 16 (End of Summer Bash).

Hamilton Round Bar

Every month, enjoy live music at the Hamilton Round Bar hosted by the West Augusta Historical Society. Upcoming performances include Open Mic (July 22), Gospel Sing (August 26) and Possum Hollow Band (September 23).

Summer Fun

Take a dip in the Wave Pool at East Marion Park, or check out the 12th Street Pool in Fairmont. Plus, in addition to easy river access, Palatine Park has a kid-friendly splash pad! In the evenings, dry off with a round at Coal Country Miniature Golf!

Stone House Lavender

For the ultimate summer experience, visit Stone House Lavender Farm! Now through August, handpick lavender while enjoying the serene fields. U-Pick is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1 to 6 p.m. Looking for something even more peaceful and relaxing? Try a yoga class in the lavender fields!
