Attend The Mountain State History Expo

Learn about the rich history of Marion County and West Virginia at the Mountain State History Expo on April 6. The event will take place at the Marion County Courthouse from 2 to 3 p.m. Explore historical-themed exhibits, talk with Civil War interpreters, enjoy live music and more! And don't miss this opportunity to tour the courthouse, which is usually closed to the public.

Take Part In The Spring Events At Pricketts Fort

Welcome the return of wood ducks to the park on April 18, then celebrate the joys of spring at Pricketts Fort Annual Bird Walks throughout April and May. On May 4, the Marion County Master Gardeners are hosting an heirloom plant sale in the Pricketts Fort Visitor Center, with all proceeds going to maintain the gardens at the park.

Browse 18th-century trade vendors at Pricketts Fort Market Fair on May 17-19. Tour the fort and smell delicious food cooking over an open hearth at the Hearth Cooking Demo on May 25. Watch some of the best blacksmiths in the area apply their skills at the Appalachian Blacksmith Association Hammer-In on June 15.

Enjoy some live music on June 21! The West Side Rhythm and Blues Band will be performing classic rock from the 70s and 80s. Welcome Michael Dragoo, the artist-in-residence at Pricketts Fort, and watch as he recreates recipes from the colonial era.

Lastly, bring the kids to Colonial Kids Day on June 26, where they can experience life in the 18th century. Activities include daily chores in the fort, life in the militia, colonial children’s games and crafts.

Countdown To The WV Three Rivers Festival

The annual West Virginia Three Rivers Festival is back this year on May 24-26 at Palatine Park. This three-day festival features live entertainment, a pepperoni roll eating contest and amateur baking contest, carnival rides, games, a parade and fireworks. Weekly Live Music

Head down to the Sagebrush Round-Up, the Country Music Hall of Fame for West Virginia, for lively entertainment every Saturday night! Live country music fills the air from 5 to 10 p.m. Make sure to come early and enjoy a delicious home-cooked dinner before the music starts. Capture your weekend memories with a selfie in front of their iconic large acoustic guitar!

Valley Falls Race

Get ready to test your endurance at the EHQ Valley Falls 6 & 12 Hour Race on May 4! The race terrain consists of gravel service roads, single-track trails, rocky climbs, rolling hills and, of course, the beautiful Valley Falls. Visit our website for a full breakdown of the course.

Enjoy A Spring Concert

Attend the last spring concert from the Fairmont Chamber Music Society on May 5 with a performance by Les Délices, an early music ensemble from Ohio. Les Délices delights, inspires, educates and expands audiences for music on period instruments through innovative programming and world-class performances. Tickets may be purchased at the door ($10 for adults and $6 for seniors and students).

Hamilton Round Barn

Every month, enjoy live music at the Hamilton Round Barn hosted by the West Augusta Historical Society. Upcoming performances include West Fork String Band (May 5), Rick Tichner and Jessica Anderson (May 11) and Possum Holler String Band (June 29). Music isn't the only offering – starting in May, tours of both the Hamilton Round Barn and the Wilson School Museum begin, available on Sundays from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

Hometown Markets

Shop from local artisans and vendors at the Main Street Fairmont Hometown Markets! On the third Saturday of every month from May through September, browse local crafts, produce and more. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The upcoming market dates are May 18 and June 15.

Palatine Park's 2024 Summer Lineup

The Palatine Park 2024 outdoor concert series kicks off during the Three Rivers Festival with performances by RagDolls: An Aerosmith Tribute (May 24) and ZOSO: The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Tribute (May 25). The summer lineup features Echoes: The American Pink Floyd (June 1), The Janis Joplin Experience (June 8), 2024 Buddy Trail Championship (June 15), The Ten Band – A Tribute to Pearl Jam (June 22) and Trish Toledo (June 29).
