August 11:  National Kool-Aid Day

Kool-Aid was developed from a concentrated liquid drink mix by Edwin Perkins of Hastings, Nebraska.

He had problems shipping the beverage, so he developed the powdered mix in 1927. It was originally called Kool Ade but was changed to Kool-Aid and sold for 10 cents each.

KOOL-AID, was sold via mail order in the 1920’s, and came in six flavors: Grape, Cherry, Raspberry, Orange, Root Beer, and Lemon.
