Work Experience/Special Expertise:
Applicants should have a degree from an academic institution, a marketing, sales, or business major preferred, and/or several years of related experience. Knowledge of marketing, business theories, practices, procedures, and budget development is essential. Applicants must possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to provide leadership. Understanding WordPress and QuickBooks is also helpful. They must also have experience in supervision and a proven ability to recruit, train, and develop staff.

Work Schedule:
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am—4:30 pm (which includes a one-hour lunch break), with possible additional evening hours during special events. The job will also include overnight travel. The employee will be paid for the holidays listed in the Personnel Policy Manual.  

Duties/Responsibilities:
This is an at-will position and the employee reports directly to the Executive Committee and/or Board of Directors.
Duties of this position shall include, but are not limited to, the following: 
       * Direct and lead the Bureau toward its mission.
       * Work directly with the Board on policy-making and strategy for the organization.
       * Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
       * Oversee all administrative, operating, and marketing functions of the Bureau.
       * Advise the Chairman of the Board, the Board, and other designated committees.
       * Oversee the creation of financial and annual audit reports per procedures approved by the Board.
       * Develop and supervise the implementation of an annual operating and marketing plan in order to promote the destination to local, state, regional, national, and international audiences.
       * Direct the preparation of the annual budget supporting the Bureau and present it to the Board for approval.
       * Attend all meetings of the Board and other designated committees in an advisory, non-voting capacity.
       * Establish and maintain ongoing communications with board members, government leaders, tourism partners, businesses, and cultural institutions.
       * Represent the Bureau at selected local, state, regional, and national conventions.
       * Develop and maintain effective organizational policies and ensure all Bureau activities are implemented within these established policies, guidelines, laws, and ethical standards.
       * Select, train, supervise, and evaluate personnel; coordinate staff training; oversee implementation of discipline and termination procedures as established by the Employee Manual.
       * Prepare and submit applications for external funding.
       * Follow guidelines as established in the Employee Manual.
       * Responsibilities include other duties assigned by the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Compensation and benefits:
The salary range for this position is between $40,000 and $60,000, and it will be determined based on the candidate’s experience.
