The craft beer industry is gaining national popularity because of the demand for new and unique options. Big brands simply weren’t cutting it anymore. Enter local businesses with local flavors! Trends come and go but craft beer is here to stay. With new and unique options to choose from, there’s a flavor for every person and a taste profile for every generation. 

We’re brewing up more than beer here! Coffee has stood the test of time and so have specialty coffee drinks. Up and coming in the brewing world are coffee’s main competitors: tea and wine — depending on the time of day…or not.

Marion County attracts creative people with a thirst for the inventive. And our community is overflowing with places to quench that thirst!

• Short Story Brewing is a story in and of itself with brews like Woke Up Like This, Fell Asleep Like This, and Argonaut. Brewing beer since 2017, the brewery now serves delicious eats and more. With an outdoor area and an upstairs, there’s plenty of space to enjoy the beer, the food, and the musical talent that can be found around the region. Have yourself a good time and get yourself a good story! 

*Don’t miss a visit to Assumption Records in Rivesville. Find contemporary and classic records to take home along with your growler of craft beer. Create a vibe in your own  home.

• The Joe is a brewery with a long line of people who woke up like this, if you catch our drift. This coffee shop features locally roasted coffee from Stone Tower Coffee Roasters, which pairs perfectly with their creative concoctions like the Joe-nut (like a donut) and Lucky Lattes (like the cereal). Want something a little stronger? Craft beer is on tap here, too!

• The Rambling Root is all about community. That’s why this brewery offers beers from around the state, plus a few of their own. Want something dark? Try Something Dark! It pairs great with the beer cheese fries. Or how about something intellectual? Opt for Professor Oat! It pairs great with their jalapeno burger along with video and board games. And for all you dog lovers, hang out on their dog-friendly patio.

*Don’t miss a visit to Arts & Antiques Marketplace. With almost 80 collectors and artisans including pottery, furniture, vintage clothing, jewelry, antiques, cross-stitch, baskets along with original artwork and photography, there really is something for everyone.

• What they call “highly-spirited, super-powered, hop-centric ales” is what we call good craft beer. Stumptown Ales Fairmont recently opened a location in Marion County – no doubt due to the brewery’s successful beer brewing operations in Davis and increasing popularity across the state! Try waking up like this with Over the Tip Top Breakfast Stout. 

*Don’t miss a trip to Health Naturally for local eggs, honey, and organic deliciousness! It’s just a trip up the street.

• You can brew beer, but can you brew wine? Technically, it’s not brewed but vinified, but we’re not technical here. MonValley Vineyards has delicious wine for almost any palate: fruity, tropical, oaky, Italian, British comedy. They really have it all. With their classic and inventive wines, The Corkyard comes to life! Munch on charcuterie, have a glass of The Full Monty, watermelon moscato, or sweet cherry pie, and relax. If wine is not your first drink of choice, try one of the refreshing craft beer specials on tap.

*Don’t miss Stone House Lavender, right down the street. This urban farm offers visitors the opportunity to harvest their own lavender bundles during U-Pick events or shop their quaint delectable products such as lavender balsamic vinegar, soaps, room sprays, and oils. 

• Although some call their libations “honey wine,” Mountain Dragon Mazery is technically a brewery. A brewery that uses every part of the ecosystem to make their honey wine. Also known as mead, the flowers are local like in the Rose Rhodomel, the Tulip Poplar, and the West Virginia Wildflower. The honey is made from bees that, of course, live locally! Experience the taste of a traditional bevvy with a Marion twist. 

• The Groove is a groovy spot for more Stone Tower Coffee, plus organic syrups for healthy and delicious coffee creations. Sweater Weather (maple pecan) and Dark Days (cardamom mocha) with good music and plants is a vibe you’ll want to experience.

*Don’t miss the new Middletown Commons across the street. It has everything but coffee! Grab some candy at Candylicious, book a salt float at Spa Oasis, or grab some flowers from the Flower Barn. 

• BerTeas is doing to tea what Starbucks did to coffee. You’ll look so cool walking down the street sipping your Chai Americana, Purple Rain, or John Lemon in your extra large BerTeas cup. Tea is making a comeback!
