Hometown Market & Tomato Festival

This month’s Hometown Market features the Annual Tomato Festival!  Nearly 50 vendors and the only tomato tasting competition in the area will be held this weekend.

Local growers are encouraged to bring their home-grown tomatoes to the Police Reserve building on Friday, August 19, where the tomatoes will be washed, dried, and cut by Marion County Master Gardeners for the public to taste on Saturday.

The Hometown Market and Tomato Festival will open at 10 AM on Saturday, August 10. Over 40 artisans and vendors, fresh tomato sandwiches, and entertainment for young and old will continue till 3 PM on Saturday.

Friday – August 19
3-6 PM – Tomato drop-off – Police Reserve Building at East Marion Park. Please bring 6-8 large tomatoes or 20-30 cherry tomatoes per entry.
Saturday – August 20 
  • 10 AM – Judging Begins, and Hometown Market Opens
  • 11 AM – Public Tasting Opens
  • 12-1 PM – Soda Pop Gypsies Perform
  • 1:30 PM – Announcing of Winners
  • 1:30 PM The Fairmont State Academy for the Arts performance
  • 3:00 PM Hometown Market Closes
