In conjunction with The Feast of the Seven Fishes is the 6th Annual Coal Miners Appreciation Day Swap Meet. Come and celebrate the coal mining heritage of our region! Vendors and collectors can buy, sell, trade or have memorabilia appraised. Admission is free.

The 14th Annual Run to Read Half Marathon begins at 1 pm with race day registration at 11:30 am. The course is a 1% grade, starting on the paved MCPARC Trail and running through the Meredith tunnel before going back to Pricketts Fort. The second section will be run on the Mon River Trail, and the race will finish on this trail. (USATF sanctioned.)
The cost to participate is $30 by Oct. 13, $40 by Dec. 29 and $45 after Dec. 29.
All proceeds will benefit Literacy Volunteers of Marion County (a United Way agency), which provides free tutoring to adults and children in basic reading, math, ESL (English as a second language) and GED preparation.
